back massage fantasy

Here we go again, another four track classic.  I can’t remember exactly how this song came to be.  It is not about a specific person or experience.  The idea was just to go through the steps of a nice massage, but lyrically as opposed to physically.

I think I was lonely when I made this, hence the fantasy part.  I was wishing I had a person to massage or someone to massage me, but alas, I had neither.  So instead, I wrote a song about my desire.

For a live performance of this song, I always imagined singing it while also simultaneously performing the massage on someone, or maybe the other way around.  But it never happened.  Maybe one day…

Here are the lyrics:

“One two, as I sit back and let my mind wonder into some voodoo shit… put your head in my lap girl, you can relax here, I’m gonna take your shoes off… for the back massage, I got the lotion in my palms and I’m making it warm… I’m gonna start at the bottom, dimples above your ass, yeah you got ‘em… I’ll rub my hands on your spine, I’ll caress your behind… I’ll un-do your bra, next thing I’m on your shoulder blades… then I’m rubbin’ up your neck, I’m rubbin’ on the back of your scalp… I’m rubbin’ right behind your ears, and down your face, and now my fingers are in your mouth…”

“Sittin’ at home, lookin’ at the TV, gettin’ stoned… Life don’t get better than this, life never ever gets better than this…”

That last lyric means that even something that might be considered lame or lonely (like sitting home alone, watching TV and getting stoned) is never really as bad as it seems.  Because you are alive.  If you are always just happy to be alive, then you can stop comparing moments to moments (which ones were good versus which ones were bad) because they all just become moments, no single one better or worse than the next or the previous.

Nothing ever gets better than anything if everything is always the best.  Get it?  Now go get happy and stop complaining, because being sad all the time is simply too easy.  I think I heard Thom Yorke say something like that recently.
