Unlike most of my beats, this one was done on computer, not on tape machine. It is named after something I saw written on a mix tape that Simon Barrett had, I think a mix tape his girlfriend at the time had made for him. I always remembered it’s such a weird, oxymoronic, hypocritical statement.
This beat uses some live guitar playing and some samples. There is a part in this song that I like:
- when you can hear some excess noise in the background from my sloppy guitar playing, but it sounds like a sound FX of seagulls at the beach calling to each other. You gotta listen closely, yo!
Subsequently, I have recorded many different variations of this guitar riff, some with vocals, some without… some with beat, some without.. some of which I will post later, others you can hear HERE.
