This song is actualy a remix of an old Nasty Millionaire song of the same title. In the song I say “like I’m watching Full house / in my living room where I used to hold it down / Stanton Ave, the memories I have / of walking down the block with a penny in my hand…”
Well, I grew up in Long Island, New York on a street called Stanton Avenue and, as a kid, I used to watch a lot of Full House.
I will post more info about the original creation of this song later. For now, I will explain how this remix version came into existence. My fiance Chloe has a best friend named LOWD. He used to be pretty big in the LA underground rap scene like 6 or 7 years ago. So was Chloe. Anyway, that was the past and now we are all domestic and shit. But LOWD has been outputting numerous amounts of beats lately and whenever he comes over to our house, he brings a CD of beats. And his beats are really fucking good. We listen to them, play wii, eat food…
So, one day, I wanted to see how my style might mix with his style. So I picked one of his beats and I was gonna do a freestyle or write some new shit, but instead, I just rapped one of my old songs over his beat. It was just a test. The end result? It sounded pretty dope.
My sound as Nasty Millionaire has always been a bit indie, a bit rap, a bit lo-fi, a bit cute. But with LOWD’s beat(s), I feel like it takes my sound into the big leagues. If you look at the “previous free music” listed on the side of my page, you will see a song called “Make Love To You Slow”, which is another LOWD beat that I wrote new lyrics for. Go check it out!
So yeah… this is the beginning. Hopefully me and LOWD are gonna collaborate on some new new shit, some even better than better shit. But this is just a taste, just a little bit off the edge. Great things to be coming out in the near-near future… so watch out y’all…
